The me & my commUnity™ program provides an opportunity for high potential, under-served girls in their junior year of high school to work side by side with a “mentor” to analyze and develop solutions to Central Florida’s most serious problems. The mentors are high-profile female executives who guide the students to remediate the problem by using skills in research, critical thinking, leadership, collaboration, fiscal stewardship and communications. The 2019 mentors induced executives from Orlando Utilities Commission, Darden Restaurants, Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID), Schellman, Orlando Health as well as Diane Meiller and Associates.
Dr. Barbara Jenkins, Superintendent of Orange County Public Schools endorses me & my commUnity™ as a unique mentoring program which “engages female OCPS students in leadership activities to help build self-worth and value as they analyze real community issues and create solutions with effects that are long-lasting”.
me & my commUnity™ is a registered 501c(3). For more information on how to participate or to donate, please contact Brian P. Gouthro at 407-487-1992 or visit the website at www.meandmycommunity.com.
